driftwood log and short pieces tied together with narrow strips of harakeke/NZ flax.

Judges Special Prize for "the marriage of concept and craft" and overall winner of Driftwood and Sand Beach Art Festival on Hokitika Beach.

I loved working on the beach as always. Thanks to all those people who stopped and talked with me. There were some challenges with the tide especially after the storm on Friday night when a huge amount of material was washed up with the incoming tide right in front of my sculpture. I managed to clear it away but you can see some of this in the later images.
